Hi, I'm Abby. I'm almost 19, an Aquarius, and very family oriented. I have 2 bearded dragons named Sully and Randall. When I was young I knew I wanted to work in a hospital. I know, sounds cliche. I want to work in the medical field to help people. I'll know every time I go to work I'll be helping someone. I'm very passionate about everything I do. When I am given a task at work or an assignment at school I put a lot of effort into it. Growing up I never had things handed to me and I had a really rough childhood. My dad has never really been around, so my grandad was always that "father figure" for me. Last year he was diagnosed with stage cancer and it's been really tough on my family, especially my mom. Teri, my mom, is the best person I know. She is my best friend. Her heart is bigger than anyone's I have ever met. She raised me and my 2 younger siblings alone and I know we made it rough. I want to be able to work hard for the nice things I get and not have to worry about struggle. I feel the need to be able to live comfortably and help my mom with whatever she needs.

Not everyone knows the history of a new place when they visit. The Dominican Republic (DR) has some the most beautiful  monuments  and a very intriguing history. In 1492, Christopher Columbus actually discovered the island. He named it Hispaniola. The island was colonised 4 years later by Spaniards.  Spanish is still the main spoken language on the island. In 1844, a group of people called La Trinitaria attacked a castle in Santo Domingo forcing out the military.  Like the United States, the DR also has a president. His name is  Danilo Medina Sanchez . He has been in office since August of 2012.  The DR actually produces some of the most popular cigars in the world. If you plan on visiting and are interested in their cigar production, you can visit one of their factories. At La Aurora Cigar Factory, you can see how cigars are made and distributed. Get to know the Dominican Republic

  There are lots of interesting things people don’t know about the DR. The Dominican Republic wasn’t actually independent until 1844, before then, the island was ruled by Haiti. Haiti resides on the other half of the island. The Dominican Republic almost has the same population as Georgia. It is sitting at 9 million people, Georgia has almost 11 million. Santa Domingo in the DR is the largest city, over 2 million people reside there. In 1966, the DR returned to democracy. The first president to start changing things into a democratic nation was Silvestre Antonio Guzman. He released more than 200 political prisoners and he eased what the media would censor or block. In 2005, the DR congress approved a free trade agreement with the US and Central American Nations. They didn’t join the accord until March of 2007. The DR sits at a whopping 800 miles of coastline and 200+ beaches. It is great for trade, swimming, vacations, etc. Tourism is the Dominican Republic’s largest industry. 6.1 mill

Why should you go to Puerto Rico? Well first of all, Puerto Rico is one of the safest places to visit as a tourist. It is safer than most US states. If you like to travel to help the islands in need, Peurto Rico should be top of your list. In 2017, Peurto Rico had two devestating hurricanes. Hurricane Maria in particular, was the strongest hurricane the island has seen in almost 90 years! Not to mention the beautiful beaches you would see along your way. If youlike scuba diving, you would love to see all of Peurto Rico's amazing coral reefs. Hiking in the thick Peurto Rico forests is another must while visiting the island. Most of the forests, are wildlife reserves. The avednture keeps getting better. The island also has two contemporary museums to walk through.
